Marketing and public relations in a digital world is full of opportunity and challenges; this class provides students with the ability to effectively and affordably plan and implement an event marketing plan
Provides students with a plan to effectively create new event concepts, how to gain initial organizational and stakeholder buy-in, and how to effectively use event timelines in the event creation process
Provides instruction to satisfy the Trained Crowd Manager that is part of the Fire Code of the Commonwealth of Virginia, required to gain event permits for gatherings of 1,000 people or more
Offers a guided how-to for the creation of an emergency plan (required by the Fire Code of the Commonwealth of Virginia), methods for mitigating risk in event production, and tips to provide a safe event environment.
Provides an overview for how boards and advisory committees can effectively and positively support events, and offers guidance to create volunteer roles tailored to the abilities and objectives of board and committee members
Provides a take-away tool for the creation of event budgets, creating a greater likelihood that fundraising and other events have bottom line revenue that exceeds expectations
Offers students a take-away tool for the creation of timelines for each phase of the event management process, from development and pre-planning, through the planning process, to event implementation and evaluation
Planning for events begins with evaluation from past events; this class provides a big-picture perspective of evaluation objectives, and detailed instruction on methods to gain vitally needed information for future use
Provides students with a guided tool for improving existing programs and creating new events that have mission focus, provide experiential opportunities for participants, and minimize resources needed for production
Includes instruction in the basics of contract writing and review, how to develop RFPs or select the best contractors for your work, and negotiating tips and in-class exercises
Provides students with instruction on how to prepare for an event’s on-site financial management, consideration of cash handling, credit card processing, online and in-person ticketing, and other related topic areas
